Across Destiny and Destiny 2, Bungie has delivered 10 raids, each with their own quirks, themes, and memorable moments. The short platforming stint gets interesting when you introduce the optional objective of making sure a ball makes it all the way to end, but is too short and lacks the visual flair to stand as a good breather from the action. The last two fights are surprisingly nuanced, however, with a number of different phases and sequences which teams must work through in order to succeed.
The layering of multiple elements works well and still makes for some rewarding moments, but the familiarity of its encounters as well as its loot being recolored versions of the Eater of Worlds sets make it the raid we ran the least. Kicking things off with a platforming segment is a bold move, but the focus on making sure everyone is in the right spot at the right time instead of having each player conquer the challenge on their own is a step forward. Shooting things in Destiny is fun in and of itself, but expectations for how that shooting is contextualized are a bit higher.
This is also the first time we can fly Sparrows in a raid, which makes for some fun twists. Tearing into Insurrection Prime with a trio of tanks is a great catharsis to an encounter that has one team mostly clearing enemies, while a second runs in circles clearing enemies while looking for charges needed to power the tanks. As a whole, Scourge of the Past lacks the epic scale of most other final bosses. Dropping into the Hellmouth for the first time, for example, is a terrifying experience.
From there, a bridge-building exercise where one team member at a time crosses a gap as the rest of the team keeps the bridge intact has a fun action-movie feel to it. But the Leviathan also houses some highpoints in its halls. The four encounters at the heart of the raid, however, are a pretty strong lineup.

It has been less than a week since the new Leviathan raid released for Destiny 2 , but slowly players are starting to uncover all of the secrets that the endgame destination holds. With a robust series of challenges within its main hold and a winding labyrinth underneath, the first Destiny 2 raid might be its most dense, for the amount of content it offers to players. Of course, one of the main goals when exploring and completing a raid is loot, and trust us when we say Leviathan has plenty of it.
But one item that many might be curious about is the raid exotic — every Destiny raid has one and Leviathan is no exception. To acquire the weapon, an exotic shotgun called Legend of Acrius, players will need to complete a few steps along the way. This first step is fairly simple and completely random. At some point while fighting Cabal enemies, the player will acquire a quest item called On the Comms.
This item will appear in their power weapon slot, much in the same way the weapon quest held a slot for MIDA Multi-Tool. Once the player has On the Comms, they will be tasked with acquiring 5 communication ciphers from Red Legion troops on Nessus. Head to Nessus and prepare to kill enemies in exchange for items.

Yet lone wolf players still find it a struggle to access much of the high level content, simply because very little of it can be played alone, and the game purposely limits matchmaking options. Bungie seems firm on this point, and with only a few weeks until the launch of The Taken King, there has been no announcement to the contrary. Good read and i wholly agree. As my free time dwindled, and my work schedule became erratic, I found it difficult to find a steady raid team. Anyone with limited free time—or even a lack of friends playing the game—that wants to experience end-game content can do so using an in-game tool.
In exchange, the loot dropped has its stats scaled down—so the players in guilds running the real raids have a reason to continue doing so. Less risk, less reward, and vice-versa. Bosses have less health, deal less damage, and sometimes lose an ability or two that tend to cause problems for real raid teams. Mostly, anyway. But like we experienced in WoW, our friends live in different states, different countries, and getting us all together at the same time is near impossible.
